Every year for the past 6 years the Rare Form family celebrates the life of one Hip Hops most talented and influential music producers, James “J. Dilla” Yancey. And for the past 3 years I’ve been lucky enough to document this awesome event (Photos: DAF4 & DAF5).
Donuts Are Forever has been held at a different venue each year. This year that venue was Brooklyn Bowl. I must say that at first I had reservations about the location. I wasn’t sure how they were going to make it work. There’s the bowling area and the restaurant area and I didn’t think it was big enough. I mean last year the venue had 2 floors! And it SOLD OUT! Well, this year they SOLD OUT again! And they pulled it off flawlessly! People bowled, ate great food, took photos in the photo booth and most importantly…DANCED & CELEBRATED LIFE!
Thanks to Donwill and VonPea of Hip Hop group, Tanya Morgan, for being amazing hosts. And to some of NYCs best DJs, DJ Parler, DJ Tara, Brina Payne, Ill Digitz, Get Live, THE Prince Paul & Neil Armstrong who played ALL the best Hip Hop and of course Dilla and Dilla inspired music! It was an amazing night!
